Author-Megan Pitcher, Verizon is Getting the iPhone!

Date- January 31, 2011

Being an apple fan I could not be more happy that Verizon is finally getting the iPhone.  I am a huge fan of the mac books and iPods.   Many of my friends as well switched their servers to at&t to get the iPhone when it first came out and I contemplated the decision myself but ended up settling for a droid.  My boyfriend has an iPhone and it is no comparison to my droid.  The battery life is so much longer on the iPhone so I believe Verizon is making a smart move by adding this phone this to their collection. I will be up at 3 am on Tuesday to pre order it and can not wait to have it in my hands!!! I heard that there will be a new iphone in July but I can not wait until then and I am anxious to learn the iPhone technology!

Charlie Sheen- A Lost Cause?

I had heard from some friends and my parents that Charlie Sheen had gotten himself into trouble once again.  To investigate more, I looked on perezhilton.com and found a blog about it.  Charlie Sheen had been out partying which ended up in his most recent hospitalization.  A friend quoted on the blog says, ” he definitely did not OD but, yes, he was partying.” The friend then goes on to say that, ” Maybe at 22 you’re with five hookers, so what? But when your his age and a father, it’s just ridiculous.”

Another friend in the article says, “He’s in serious condition.  Doctors are still trying to figure out what it was.”  The friend goes on and continues to say, “Nobody is surprised. This is an ongoing problem.”

The friends are right in my point of view.  He is a father and a public figure in the media.  Although he is known to be able to go out and still be able to show up for work and perform, he needs to realize what kind of image he is giving to the public.

If I become a PR professional and have a client in this predicament I would be very overwhelmed with handling it.  I would try to suggest to him that he needs to get his head on straight, which I am sure friends and his PR people have tried doing, and try to get him to do charity events or volunteer or to do something in a positive light that the media can see.  I would possibly even suggest some kind of rehabilitation after this most recent hospitalization.

Hopefully he will change his ways after this incident but he has been in trouble with partying before so who knows?  I just hope he changes before it is too late and does not end up hurting himself any more than he already has.  My thoughts go out to his family, children, and friends.

Jillian- Being involved with BCBG and Fashion myself I was especially drawn in to your post.  I am currently employed by BCBG and as a college student I can tell you that prices can be high there but we do have some great sales going on right now! Up to 70% off.  I have not heard yet about Britney Spears teaming up with the company to make a line for Sears but I think that would be nice to see.  Since I did grow up listening to Britney Spears, I have always wanted her to do great things and I think it is a very smart move that a lot of artists have been making to the fashion industry.  I am a little confused about why it would be inside Sears though?  BCBG has partner shops inside Dillards and many other department stores but I dont believe Sears is one of them.  I do believe it may make it more affordable though which will be nice! Anyways loved your post!! Thanks for the heads up if it does happen!

More companies pull advertisements from MTV’s new show Skins

Location: Two More Companies Pull Their Ads From Skins

Date Accessed: January 24, 2011

I was reading on perezhilton.com today and came across a post that discussed companies pulling their advertisements off MTV during the new teen drama “Skins.”  According to the article Taco Bell and GM were the first to pull their ads during the show and now Wrigley and H&R Block are the latest.  Wrigley said their reasoning for deciding to suspend their ad during the show was due to not wanting to endorse content that could offend consumers. According to the Parent Television Council it is the most dangerous television show for children that they have ever seen. MTV says that they have taken many steps to alert viewers to the strong subject matter so that they can choose for themselves whether it is appropriate.

I have been curious about this new show and the message it is apparently giving out to Teens myself.  The advertisements for the show that I have viewed seem to be risky and may be inappropriate for certain ages but I do not know if it is much riskier than the MTV reality tv show, “Jersey Shore.”  As in response to what they Parent Television Council said about it being the most dangerous show for CHILDREN they have ever seen, I believe children is the key word.  This show is NOT meant for children and if parents do not want their children watching it they should block it.  MTV has made it clear that the show is for older viewers not only by making it known that there is strong subject matter but by the commercials.  Lets face it, teens are becoming less innocent as time goes on and a lot of the stuff happening in the shows like Jersey Shore and other risky shows is more than likely the reality of today for many older teens, college students, and young adults.
